When the World Paused, My Life Recalibrated

For as long as I can remember, I built my life around my craft.
Behind the chair, in the studio, creating beauty with my hands and heart — it wasn’t just my career, it was part of who I was.
I grew up in it.
I built my success in it.
I found fulfillment and community through it.

And from the outside looking in, it probably looked like I had it all —
No boss.
No time clock.
Freedom to build my own days.

But there’s something most people didn’t see:
My freedom was still tied to how much I worked.
If I didn’t work, I didn’t eat.
If I didn’t show up, the income didn’t either.
My livelihood — my life — was still being traded, hour by hour, client by client, year by year.

And for a long time, I didn’t even question it.
It was the only life I knew.

The Pause That Changed Everything

When the world shut down in 2020, everything I had ever known came to a screeching halt.

No appointments.
No salon lights humming.
No familiar rhythm to move inside of.

At first, like so many others, I thought it was temporary — a blip before life went back to normal.
But the longer the world stayed paused, the louder a new voice inside of me became.

A voice asking:

  • Is this truly the life you want for the next chapter?

  • Is there more to you than what you’ve always known?

  • What would it look like to build something that couldn’t be taken away?

For the first time in decades, I had space to wonder.
And in that wondering, my life began to recalibrate.

The Awakening

I spent those quiet months not just waiting for the world to reopen —
but rebuilding my inner world.

I leaned into learning.
I explored new skills.
I planted seeds for a future that wouldn’t require trading time for money.

Because while I had been “my own boss” for years, the truth was...
I was still bound to a system where my income depended on my physical presence.
And deep down, I knew: True freedom isn’t about looking free. It’s about being free.

Approaching my 50s, my spirit, my mind, my body — everything was naturally evolving.
It wasn’t just about a career anymore.
It was about honoring the woman I was becoming — and the life I truly wanted to live.

The Evolution

Those seeds I planted during the shutdown became something more:
a blueprint for a life built on my terms.

Over time, I realized I wasn’t alone.
More and more women were waking up too —
some by choice, others by circumstance.

Careers they had devoted decades to disappeared overnight.
Promises of stability faded.
The world had shifted, and the old ways weren't safe anymore.

And in that shift, a new question rose:
What are we building now that no one can take away from us?

Why Now Matters

Today, as we face even more uncertainty — in the economy, in careers, even in the fabric of daily life —
I know deep in my bones:
This was never just about me.
This journey, this recalibration — it was always about more.

It was about creating a new way forward.
A way where women own their time, their talents, and their futures.
Where freedom isn’t a dream — it’s a decision.
Where financial security doesn’t depend on being chosen — it’s created.
Where fulfillment isn’t delayed until "someday" — it’s lived now.

And that’s why I built The Recalibrated Collective.

Because no woman should have to navigate this season alone.
Because there is another way — and it’s not just possible, it's waiting.
